On September 8, 2015, Hyundai recalled 99,500 Hyundai Accent. Hyundai motor america (hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2009-2011 hyundai accent vehicles manufactured march 1, 2009, to february 11, 2011. in the affected vehicles, the brake light switch may malfunction. a malfunctioning brake light switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause an inability to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal. additionally, a malfunctioning brake light switch may also prevent the shifter from being moved out of the park position.

The brake light switch may fail resulting in the brake lights not functioning when the brakes are applied. This can also result in the shift lock not allowing release of the shifter from park, and the cruise control from deactivating when depressing the brake.

Recalls on your Hyundai must be performed by a Hyundai dealership. Hyundai began notifying known owners of affected vehicles when the recall was announced, in November 2015. If you did not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Hyundai dealers below. They will also check for any other uncompleted recalls on your vehicle.
