How to replace slave cylinder?

(1990 Chevrolet 1500 Pickup)
in Owen, WI on June 13, 2010
I've got the part. Do I have to drop the transimission and everything? A friend said it's not necessary on this one, but I'm not sure if he knows what he's talking about. Instructions or a link to instructions would be much appreciated!
