(1999 Volkswagen Golf TDI)

glow plug warning light on. I assume i need to replace these plugs and don't have a diagram of where they are. Do I need any special tools. I have located a glow plug kit on line with plugs and lubricant. Need some guidance.

It's a good idea to get a repair manual if your going to work on your own vehicle, and it's never been easier or less expensive to get a high quality manual. Try http://bit.ly/mitchell_repair_manuals_online and you can have one in minutes, for less than $30.00. Read up on the job you are about to perform, it will show you what special tools you will need and you will be much better prepared to tackle any job on your vehicle.

take off the plastic shielding that says VW TDi on it. i think you have to take out the dipstick first. you need a 10mm deep socket to take out the glowplugs but there all connected to one wiring harness. not to hard to find once you take the cover off.

I had this happen and was told it was the glow plug module. I had it changed so far so good.
