How to replace distrubitor

(2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500)

engine backfired and quit, found gear on bottom of distrubitor chewed up, got new distrubitor, what is procedure to install?

The new distributor will need to be installed in the correct "time" to the camshaft. Look at the online repair information at autozone.com - here is the link: http://bit.ly/online_repair_manuals.

Yes, two marks! Looking at the engine from the front. One mark should be at about 2 o-clock and line up with a mark on the timing cover. The second mark will be at about 5 o-clock and line up with a mark on the lower part of the timing cover. That should put the #1 clyinder on TDC of the compression stroke. I hope this helps.

Thanks, Russ link did not work but I got on Autozone site. Had info.but not what I need. I know bring to tdc on compression but what mark to use, there is 2 on vibration dampner and crank sensor.
