I suggest you have this professionally diagnosed. It may not be the computer and replacing it will only be a waste of your $$.

Diagnosis costs $$ too, but it's a good insurance against replacing unnecessary parts.

Here's a few shops in your area if you need one: http://repairpal.com/mitsubishi-within-10-miles-of-new-britain-connecticut-06051

Your Eclipse should have further diagnoses performed before replacing any of the computers. If a computer is not communicating power, ground, and the communication line should always be checked.

Your vehicle needs to be further diagnosed. This problem could be related if it is a PCM failure. To answer your question the vehicle's PCM must be removed and the numbers on the PCM must be given to the parts supplier so it can be properly matched but regardless your vehicle will more than likely need some type of security programming prior so the vehicle will start. Some vehicles are Plug & Play in the earlier models I can check on this for you if you would like to contact me at 860 265 3630 during the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. I will gladly answer some questions that may help you my name is Billy
