I can't get the replacement axle to slide into place

TRY PUTTING SOME GREASE ON THE END OF AXLE AND SLIDE IT IN WITH A RUBBER HAMER ,PULL IT BACK AND FORTH TILL YOU FELL IT GOES INTO POSITION AND USE SOME W 40 FOR THE FRONT PART WHERE THE BEARING IS .
