How do i troubleshoot my temperature sensor?

My tempuarure sensor in dashboard does not seem to be working or reading temp what should i do make sure that it is still working or if i need to replace the thermostate

Does the heater in your truck seem to work as good as it used too? If not it may indeed be a stuck open thermostat. The quickest way a repair shop check actual running temperature i with a scan tool on OBD2 compliant cars or a non contact inferred heat gun that gives an actual reading by just pointing the laser at the thermostat housing. The cheapest diagnostic route you can take at home is remove the thermostat see if it is broken or stuck open, flush the cooling system (and replace the thermostat anyway for piece off mind).
