How do i fix my odometer?

There is a vehicle speed sensor (VSS)located near the oil filter on the engine, it is an AC pulse generator that puts out an increasing signal with rise in vehicle speed, it needs to be tested for power and increasing signal as speed rises, if the signal is within spec the speedometer head in the instrument cluster needs to be looked at.
