How can I replace there rear freeze plug without having to pull the whole engine?

(1990 Pontiac Grand Prix)
in Crowley, TX on March 11, 2011
the car overheated. I put coolant in it, but it leaked out as fast as I put it in the radiator. it leaks only from the back of the engine, not from the radiator or block.I cant get to the freeze plug to replace it.

the transmission has to come out, the flywheel removed and you will have access to the plugs. there is no short cut for this repair.
