Hood Release Disconnected

(2002 Toyota Celica)

(2002 Toyota Celica GT)
The hood release lever in the cabin beneath the steering wheel seems to be disconnected, so I am unable to open the hood. I've looked down there, and I can see that no wires or any other release mechanisms are connected to the back of the lever outlet. This seems odd, though, since I haven't seen anything loose behind the steering column.

I suppose it's possible the hood release mechanism was jostled out of position when I ran a flat after hitting a piece of debris in the road. But the bottom line is I can't pop the hood to access the release on the hood itself.

What kind of secondary releases are there for this car? Will I have to reconnect the interior hood release, and if so how?

This is something your local body shop should be able to handle as they will probably need to order a new hood release cable, stop by a body shop and ask for a estimate to replace the hood release cable
