Honda Recalls 1990 Civic DX and LX Sedans for Windshield Attachment Issues

Recall Details

Honda has recalled certain 1990 Civic DX and LX sedans for a problem with the paint in the area where the windshield mounts. The paint may not stick in this area, which may cause the windshield to become loose. Dealers will reinstall the windshield to insure proper retention.

Summary
POOR ADHESION MAY OCCUR BETWEEN PAINT LAYERS IN THE WINDSHIELD MOUNTING AREA DUE TO DEFECTIVE PAINT BATCHES OR OVERSPRAYING.
Consequence
PAINT SEPARATION IN THE WINDSHIELD AREAS WOULD LEADTO NON-COMPLIANCE WITH FMVSS 212 RETENTION REQUIREMENTS. LOSS OF WINDSHIELDRETENTION ABILITY COULD CAUSE WINSHIELD TO SEPARATE FROM VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNINGAND HARM VEHICLE OCCUPANTS AND OTHERS IN THE VICINITY.
Remedy
REINSTALL WINDSHIELD TO INSURE PROPER RETENTION.
