On April 26, 2018, Honda recalled 69 Honda Civic. Honda (american honda motor co.) is recalling certain 2017 honda civic hatchback and civic type r vehicles. driver and front passenger seatback pads sold as replacement service parts were made without slit openings for the seat-mounted side air bags. in the event of a crash necessitating air bag deployment, the seatback pad would interfere and adversely affect air bag performance. as such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) number 214, "side impact protection."

The drive and front passenger seat backs have pads that may be missing a slit opening for the seat mounted side air bags. In the event of an accident, these side air bags restricted by the seat pads without proper openings would not deploy properly, increasing risk of occupant injury.

Recall repairs on your Honda must be performed by a Honda dealership. Honda will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in June, 2018. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Honda dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with. The Honda recall numbers are E1D, U1B and X1C.

The right front axle shaft may not have been heat treated properly. As a result, the axle shaft could break, preventing vehicle movement and allowing the vehicle to possibly roll away if the parking bake is not engaged. This increases risk of a crash.
