Q: headlights on 2000 Buick LeSabre

is it normal for the low beam headlights to go off when the high beams are switched on? and come back on when high beams are turned off , when i hold back on the lever, and they are both on, there is much more light at night, but both high and low only stay on at same time when lever is held back.

What you are experiencing is normal operation for your 2000 Buick LeSabre. On some older vehicles the high beams came on in addition to the low beams. Most all newer cars function like yours - low and high beams are separate - one or the other. Having all the lights come on when the switch is moving from low to high beam operation is just a design anomaly of the switch.
thank you for your fast answer,, read in the owners manual, it did not say, but what you said makes sense, and now i know it is woriking properly
