Have to pump gas pedal to start, then blows white smoke at exhaust

happened after filling up at gas station. Think water in tank.

yes white smoke usually means water in the exhaust, this can destroy your very expensive catalytic convertor causing the screens inside to melt, but this doesn't mean the water came from bad gas, check your oil first and see if on the dipstick the oil looks milky colored and over full if you find such a condition then either your head gasket or intake gasket is bad, also to confirm this your can do a compression check or radioator pump up leak down test
