I have a 2000 dodge durango and I am having the same trouble. It hesitates to start off the 1st try or sometimes "sputters" and stalls out, but when I try a second time it starts right up. Brought mine to a "mechanic" and he told me all I needed was a tune-up, the problem is still there, now he tells me I need a new fuel pump. I was told to 1st check the fuse first to see if it just an electrical issue with that. Don't know if any of this helps but just putting it out there.
