Have your car inspected by a good shop to make sure that the sender is the problem with the gauge. There is a fuel module that is replaced for the gauge issue. ( not cheap about $500-600 plus labor ) as for the location of the sensor here is a good source for technical info, ( I think it is in the fuel rail ) but check here to make sure.
