Fuel pump cycles but does not deliver fuel to fuel filter?

(1990 Acura Legend)
in Auburn, CA on April 27, 2016
Started with occasional no-start, went to no-start at all. Replaced main relay. Turn key on, hear and feel fuel pump cycle, but do not see any fuel being delivered. Can a fuel pump fail that way?

put a PRESSURE tester on it and let us know what (specific) pressure you have. Have you verified injector pulse while cranking? IF YES , How?

There is no fuel getting to the engine. So it doesn't seem a pressure test would measure anything. Similarly, without fuel don't see where an injector pulse test would be telltale.

You stated that you hear fuel pump cycle , I was going off of that tidbit - now , you KNOW BEYOND A SHADOW OF A DOUBT , THAT THERE IS ABSOLUTELY ENOUGH FUEL IN THE TANK?THEN TIME TO PULL THE PUMP FOR INSPECTION.

Ok, added a few gallons of gas, still no gas to engine. Replaced fuel pump and main relay. Will test tomorrow after battery charges.

Okay and sorry I didn't notice the 'caps lock' was on before. Good luck.

Got it started after replacing fuel pump. However, I am not convinced the fuel pump was the problem as opposed to perhaps low voltage to the fuel pump. Because while replacing the fuel pump, I tested the new one, and discovered it failed to pump when attached to the car and put in a bucket of water, despite spinning. Next I took it to the bench and test with a batter jumper and it pumped. So I installed it, hooked up the jumps, and got it started. Thanks for your assistance.
