Fuel cuts-out after a second.

(1990 Chevrolet Celebrity)
in Modesto, CA on September 30, 2010
I have a 4 cylinder '88 Celebrity and I have a fuel problem. I was told to replace the fuel pump and computer, and I did, but it didn't work.

The problem is; the car starts, but instantly dies. The pump pushes enough gas to start the car and that's all (> a quarter cup). I managed to get it home by continuously starting and smashing the gas pedal.

So if it's not the pump, computer, or even the fuel relays, what might it be?

I would check your fuel pump relay, it may be cutting in and out and check you fuel filter, it may be plugged.
