Front end loud crack while I was stuck in the snow and then the tires stopped moving

(1999 Acura TL)
I was stuck in the snow and when I was trying to get out the front tires were spinning. All of a sudden I heard a loud crack from the front and then some banging. Tires won't move anymore. The RPM's and MPH go up but nothing but lots of unusual noise from the front if I hit the gas. Axle? IDK

Ouch. Sounds like something catastrophic occured. More likely to be internal transsmission problems rather than an axle issue. Have your vehicle towed to a local shop that specializes in Acuras and/or transmissions. Best of luck.
