On March 27, 2017, Ford recalled 208,584 Ford Fusion. Ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain 2014 escape, 2014-2015 fiesta st, 2013-2014 fusion and 2013-2015 transit connect vehicles equipped with 1.6l gtdi engines. if the vehicle is started and driven with an insufficient level of coolant within the engine cooling system, the engine cylinder head may overheat, crack and leak oil.

The cylinder head on the 1.6 Liter GTDI engines may crack and leak oil if it overheats, due to being low on engine coolant. This could cause a fire hazard.

Recall repairs on your Ford must be performed by a Ford dealership. Ford notified known owners of affected vehicles beginning in April, 2017. If you did not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Ford dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. The door latches on the vehicle may fail due to a component within the latch breaking. This would make the doors difficult to latch and possibly lead occupants to believe a door is securely closed when it is not. This would increase risk of occupant injury.

If the vehicle is involved in an accident, heat from the deployment of a seat belt pre-tensioner may cause a front seat belt anchor cable to fail. If this happens, the seat belts may not properly restrain the front seat occupants. This would lead to increased risk of injury.

The doors may be difficult to latch, and the latches may not fully secure the doors in the closed position. This could allow a door to open while the vehicle is in motion.

Ford will notify owners of affected vehicles in June, 2015.  If you are experiencing difficulty closing your doors, or wish to inquire if your vehicle is involved in this recall, you may contact your dealership. The dealership may ask for your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), so please have that on hand when you contact them.
