On March 7, 2013, Ford recalled 196,667 Ford Freestar. Ford is recalling certain model year 2004-2007 freestar and mercury monterey vehicles manufactured from march 24, 2003, through november 7, 2006, equipped with a third row seat and originally sold in, or currently registered in, connecticut, delaware, illinois, indiana, iowa, maine, maryland, massachusetts, michigan, minnesota, missouri, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, vermont, west virginia, wisconsin and the district of columbia. the third row stowable seat can experience corrosion and structural degradation at the seat anchor mechanism mounted to the rear wheel wells. as a result of the corrosion, the third row seat may not fully latch into its seating position.

Ford is recalling certain vehicles sold or currently registered in states where salt is used to de-ice the roads. Due to rust, the third row seat may not fully latch into is seating position.

Owners of affected vehicles will be notified beginning March 27, 2013. If you experience problems latching the third row seat, or you don't received recall notification and you feel you should have, please contact your Ford dealer. They may ask for your vehicle identification number (VIN), so please have it handy when you call. The Ford recall number is 13S01.

On vehicles with handicap conversions, the brake lines may be routed improperly, causing them to leak fluid.

Vehicles affected were converted to handicapped accessible vehicles by Vantage Mobility International. You can check with your dealer to assist in finding out if your vehicle is involved in this program. It is helpful to have your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on hand when you contact them.
