Q: Ford Explorer Sport Trac will turn over but not run! on 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Rookie cbe0621eac06868b3efe0d8d1d3611e23c60d3114864ea2ec19a68cfbd3eebab
My truck will turn over but not run. I sprayed starting fluid in the intake and it ran for a few seconds and then stopped. Is this a fuel pump, filter or line clog issue? Please advise.

It happened to me on my sport trac also. like the last answer, i push the pump back on (little red button on front passenger side on little cylinder). the car starts again. sometimes I had to keep the button pushed while starting the truck and keep my finger on it a few seconds. I think its because i pumped bad gas at a gas-station that was empty (getting all the deposit stuff from the tank).
before it stopped, did the entire truck shake?
i had this problem as well on my 2005. i called the dealership, and they said it was a bad fuel pump, and replaced it for a couple hundred.
Have you checked the fuel pump emergency cut off under the dash on the passenger side.It is a mecury switch that will go bad some times. If you turn the key to the on position without turning it over and leave the gas cap off you can hear the fuel pump runnig .If this is bad you will not hear it runnig
This could be a bad fuel pump, loss of power supply to the pump, or the injectors are not opening. Many things can cause the last two, so you should start by checking power and ground to the fuel pump then the pressure, then the injector operation.
If you cannot perform these tests then I would recommend taking it to a shop to avoid replacing unnecessary parts.
