The heat shield for the steering gear may detach due to its fasteners corroding. If this happens, the steering gear could overheat, increasing steering effort required by the driver. This could result in an accident.

Recall repairs on your Ford must be performed by a Ford dealership. Ford will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in September, 2017. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local Ford dealerships.
