Do you know what a solenoid is? You see that one on the firewall? You know how to bypass it? If manual trans be sure it's in neutral.!! Post results after you try this.

Thanks,I replaced the solenoid and on the first try the engine did not turn.I wiggled the shift lever and the engine started, sounds like the neutral safety switch is bad.

Should have jumpered the solenoid to bypass it instead of replacing it! That is how you test the starter to make sure it's ok! As long as you are on the right track no problem just the price of the solenoid. Need to check the switch before replacing it, look to see if it is loose and needs readjusting!!

Check the neutral safety switch, try it in neutral.
