Many, Many things can cause this. Check for codes. You may have a Cam or Crank sensor that is acting up, or an ignition module or a, or fuel pump relay, or a Mass Air Flow Sensor etc, etc. It is best to get the code and really fix your car. There is too much technology to 'guess right' these days.

dandd: What do you think i should do for the p0455 & p0401 codes for my '99 ford taurus- it starts then stalls out when idling in park & to start with it started doing it at a stop light (and everyone after) & when ever it idles tries to stall unless i push the gas? 'did a post w/ more info, no answers yet but i didn't have codes til today'

my 1991 done about the same thing , try replaceing the fuel filter / my filter was located on the passenger side next to the back floor board / hope this helps
