Engine starts but very rough and sluggish.Has standard transmission with 2.2 4cy

This problem just happened suddenly last night and without any warning. Truck has
200,000 mi. but has been maintained. I was told that it could possibly be the oxygen sensor, but There are two of them. Could both be bad, or is there some other problem.
There is a significant gas smell that wasn't there before.

Sounds like a failed purge valve. Better get it checked out if there is a gas smell.
