Engine rpm

(1993 Honda Civic del Sol)
in Leonard, TX on April 01, 2011
I have an issue with the engine starting at a higher rpm, that I believe will eventually damage the engine. I was told to clean the inside of the throat to the throttle body, but it didn't help. Can you give me any pointers to the problem? Thanks

This vehicle has an idle air control valve that can be either contaminated and sticking, or it can be malfunctioning. Check this component, mounted at the intake area.
