new coolant added as well can it be the heater core?

How bad did it overheat before all this stuff was replaced? From a COLD (sitting overnight) start , does it build up system pressure quickly(with cap on) , Like the upper hose is building pressure as you hold onto it right after start-up , or you feel 'bubbling' inside the hose?
