Engine is wanting to accelerate by itself

(1993 Ford F-150 Lightning)
in Oakley, CA on April 22, 2009
The engine is sometimes wanting to accelerate when I am not pushing on the gas. It does it in all the gears. If it is in drive it will go up to 40mph. Is this a major problem?

This is not a safe situtaio!! I would take it to a shop ASAP before you hurt your self and/or somebody else. There are several causes for this, but you need to have some one who knows just exactly what to check take a look at it ASAP!!!

Yes, it COULD be a vacuum leak or an Idle Control Valve issue, or many other things but when a powerful truck like this is surging and accelerating by itself, PLEASE have a shop deal with this before you run some one over or smash in to something.
