Engine gauge raises fast to hot.

Outside of not heaving enough coolant in the engine, what else would I need to look at or replace, if my car starts to overheat? When I stop and let it sit, there's no coolant on the ground. It has all new belt and hoses too.

engine coolant is full, oil is fine. But the engine guage indicates that the engine is over heating to the danger zone. The engine doesn't smell hot or seem over heating. Belts seem tight.
