Engine didn't crank when key was turned on.Engine oil indicator was on only

The engine did not crank when the key was turned on. I disconnected the negative terminal of the battery, waited for 5 min but failed to start engine. What else can I do?

if your engine doesnt turn over then try to jump the starter by crossing the starter cable and the small wire at the starter if it turns over then get someone to turn the key on and check for power at the small wire at the starter
