how do you replace a catalyctic converter?

The converter is usually welded in place in the exhaust system, which requires cutting it out and then rewelding or clamping in place. It's important that you find out WHY it failed as the article above states. If the converter has come apart internally it's possible even the muffler can be stopped up also. Hope this helps
