DVD faded out

(2006 Mercedes-Benz SL500)
in Brandon, FL on February 02, 2009
I put a DVD movie into the command Centers DVD player. I can hears the movie playing, but the screen prompted with picture is faded for safety reasons. Can I get the dealer to bypass it to enable the ability to show a movie?

On a side note: I traded my 2007 Lexus IS250 for the SL500, my Lexus 30,000 mile checkup was 600 dollars (nothing was wrong with it). My 30,000 miles checkup with my SL500 325 dollars. On my Lexus, I had to get it inspected every 6000 miles, on the SL500 it is every 14000 miles. I love it.

I think it's highly unlikely that the dealer would do this for you. You may be able to find some illegal aftermarket fix.

I recently read that the auto makers, including Mercedes, are looking at solutions that would allow for the passenger to watch while the picture is hidden from the driver--so they are actively working to prevent you from doing this.
