With the axle nut off to its last threads the axle should tap backward toward the gearbox when tapped with a hammer (preferably a brass hammer). The Hyundai workshop manual show a puller / press that has its "legs" secured to the hub by means of the lug nuts while a screw is tightened pressing the axle spindle inwards but in 30 years of working on cars I've never seen any one at the dealer or independent repair shops.
