Q: Door Lock on 1997 Hyundai Sonata

I can not get the driver side door to open with or with the key. When I press the unlock button all other doors open but not the drivers, the button on the door does not go down, and you can hear the motor but nothing happens.

The door inner trim panel will have to be removed to see what is failing internally in the door. Hyundai as a car manufacturer put a lot of free technical information and workshop manuals on line for Hyundai owners. Check out lots of great information.
Autozone have some popular workshop manuals for free on line once you register (for free) on their website .There is a company that independent auto repair shops "buy" their information from that offer a very reasonable service to do it yourselvers. You get a one year subscription to year make and model specific repair procedures, service bulletins, component locations, wiring diagrams ect.... great quality information same as the professionals have ,much better than generic workshop manuals from parts stores, much cheaper than the factory manual. or try and get an online repair manual subscription.
I had the same problem with my 97 and what I found was there is a little spring on the lock motor inside the door that all I did was bend the end and replace and has been working ever since.
