Does the Actuater for closing the heater doors have a manual overide ? & if no,

(2001 GMC Sierra 1500)
does it go under the hood or dash, the heat is on all the time & I think it is because the actuater is not closing the heater doors ?

I'm not sure on your model but on the 05 with dual climate control the door blend actuator fails quite often. There is really no way to "override" it except by maybe modifying it somehow to stay in a certain position and unplugging the connector.

This may also be of interest: If you have dual climate control, it may be your blend door actuator motor. Have a look at this: http://repairpal.com/what-do-i-replace-when-hot-air-blows-when-set-on-ac-occassionaly-025
