On January 28, 2015, Dodge recalled 753,176 Dodge Viper. Chrysler (fca us llc) is recalling certain model year 2002-2003 jeep liberty vehicles manufactured january 9, 2001, to march 28, 2003, 2002-2004 jeep cherokee vehicles manufactured february 13, 2001, to may 23 2003, and 2003-2004 dodge viper vehicles manufactured november 1, 2001, to june 30, 2004. due to electrical noise beyond the tolerance of the air bag electronic control module (ecm), a component in the ecm may fail, causing the front air bags, side air bags, and/or seatbelt pretensioners to deploy inadvertently while the vehicle is being operated.

The airbags and/or seatbelt pretensioners could deploy unexpectedly while driving.

As of this writing the final remedy parts are not available for this recall. An interim repair is available and may have been performed as part of a previous recall. Owners are urged to get the interim repair completed and not wait for the final remedy parts to become available, please contact you dealer for further instructions. They may ask for your vehicle identification number (VIN), so please have it handy when you call. Owners will be mailed a notification letter in late March 2015 with a followup letter to be sent when the final remedy parts become available.

An issue with the airbag computer can cause the front airbags and/or seatbelt pretensioners to deploy unexpectedly.

Chrysler will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning in February, 2013. There are no symptoms related to this recall. If don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It's helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) when you call.
