Chrysler Recalls 2006 Dodge Rams Due to Seat Belt/Child Seat Problem

Recall Details

Chrysler has recalled certain 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 models because the front passenger seat belt may not be able to tighten properly on certain child seats. This can increase the risk of injury to a child in the event of a crash. Dealers will replace the front passenger seat belt.

Summary
CERTAIN PICKUP TRUCKS FAIL TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 208, "OCCUPANT CRASH PROTECTION." THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT MAY NOT BE ABLE TO TIGHTEN SECURELY ON CERTAIN MODEL CHILD SEATS.
Consequence
THIS CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY TO A CHILD SEAT OCCUPANT IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH.
Remedy
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 20, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT DAIMLER CHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.
