Bought my 03 Ram 1500 SLT quadcab used in 2006. It had 60,500 miles exactly. Ive owned the truck for 8 years and it never left me sit anywhere. I keep the oil changes every 5000 miles. All I've done is replace the heater core, radiator, water pump, fan clutch, and one wheel hub assembly. All that except the heater core was just this past year. I just replaced the factory battery as well. The truck now has 210,000 miles on her and my vacuum booster for the brakes went out. I've done more to a lot of vehicles with much less mileage.
this is the 8th consecutive new Dodge truck I have purchased and worn out. I currently have 185K on her and she is using 1/2 qt of oil every 1200 miles. There are only 2 problems I have ever had - one is the Rt brake light, which shorts out when ever it rains causing a burned out bulb indicator, I have not been able to find the short anywhere. The second is when it has set for 24 hours or more, when you first put it in gear, it is as if the Trani has no fluid, the engine revs but it does not move. Dealership said it was a missing/defective back-flow preventer that was allowing trani fluid to drain over time and it takes 15 seconds to circulate the fluids. The recorded it and said if it became a problem, they would warranty it whenever I could not deal with the down time back then and skipped the service, here I am 185,200 miles later and never looked back
purchased my 03 ram 1500 quadcab used with 77K,had 1 year, replaced battery, and the tranny cooling lines,i live in the north east where salt is used on the roads during the winter, this truck runs like new, looks great and handles well for a large vehicle, interior is roomy and nicely appointed, the 4 wheel drive works flawlessly, although the transfercase shift on the floor is bit archaic, later years have the electronic engagement for the TC on the dash, just wish the hemi wasnt as thirsty, not a complaint,i knew it it would be a gas hog,all in all a great truck!!!
I bought a 2003 Ram 1500 w/5.7 HEMI new. I have owned this truck since new and now have 105,000 mile on it. This truck has been excellent and has never let me down. Only minor issues in the last 8 years. Just now having to replace the upper/lower ball joints and shocks. Brakes have been done once since new. Wheel bearing hubs on both sides have been replaced. This is a big heavy truck, have to expect this kind of maintenance. Love the room and ride, much better than Ford /Chevy. Would buy another Ram. It's all in how you treat/maintain your vehicle.
I just bought a 2003 Quad cab 4x4 a few weeks ago with 160,000 miles a month ago. The body is in perfect condition, no rust except the corner of the door. The interior doesnt even look worn and it drives very well. I love the roomy interior also. But, after about a week, I noticed a jerking/vibrating in the rearend when accelerating a little hard and when pulling a steep grade. I am doing research to determine what is wrong with it, so if anyone has had this same problem, please feel free to give me a heads up @ email@example.com. I love this truck otherwise, but the gas mileage is terrible. Good thing its paid off or I couldnt afford gas for it.
i bought a used dodge ram 1500 4.8 liter with 96000 miles on it. i've driven the truck for almost two months and the check engine light came on, something to do with my air intake. anyone have any suggestions?
had vehicle over a year. its got a hemi. 50,000 miles. i am the second owner. My check engine light keeps coming on and keeps coming evap emission. i have replaced the gas cap all the lines, and evap purge sylinoid. If anyone has another idea please let me know. other then this excellent truck. I do normal oil change, and recently replaced plugs, wires and air filter. At 48000 miles i had to replace the driver side wheel bearing which is not a fun job.
brakes rotors must be changed every 20 to 30k - they warp and hop grab handle assemblies break (both sides), this can cause serious injury or death. depeding on the fall the consumer takes when it happens.Dash plastics crack
nice finishings on the laramie edition, beats chevy
