Do you need to use software to reset the electronic system for the car to run?

Car doesn't run now. Had new cam sensors installed and codes cleared. Check engine light stayed on. check shows no current or pending codes just old ones. car will run just fine for 10 or 15 miles including freeway speed then cuts of and won't restart. After several minutes it will restart in park but as soon as you put it in drive it cuts off
