Do I have to remove my entire 6.8L gasoline engine to replace head gaskets?

Auto shop says 2400 dollars to replace my head gaskets, does the entire engine have to be pulled or can I do it myself?

IF done carefully and correctly by the tech , sounds like a good price. The ford dealership I used to work near , pulled the cabs up and worked on the engines sitting on the frame (lots of open space , no back breaking leaning over body.
