Hello,
This is typically a problem with the key, but the ignition lock cylinder or anti-theft/body/powertrain control modules could be at fault.

They all of to talk to one another in order to agree the vehicle should be started. If you have a spare key, try it. Also, it is often inexpensive to have a new key made for the vehicle before paying for diagnosis.
