Cracked dash

(1992 Mazda Miata MX-5)
in Naples, FL on April 07, 2011
does anyone know of a dash cover that is made of anything else other than fabric/carpet material? I think a hard plastic cover makes more sense, prevents lifting around the outside but I haven't been able to find one. Help!

I haven't seen anything like you describe but it sounds like a good idea if it's energy absorbing for safety in a crash, it'd have to be to be sold legally. Usually you can attach the cloth dash covers with stick-on velcro to keep the edges down properly.
