Coolant temp sensor connector?

(2001 Kia Sportage)
I own a 2001 Kia sportage. I recently replaced the timing belt and water pump. When I start it to test if the timing was done correctly it will start just fine until i connect the coolant temperature sensor connector. So I replaced the sensor itself twice and still get the same results. When the sensor is connected it will not start. Is there any way to test the connector? Any other suggestions?
What seems to make the problem better or worse? When the connector is plugged in.
How long have you had this problem? Few days

Definitely sounds like some kind of wiring concern that is causing some abnormal feed back to the engine's processor causing a stall. Trace all the wiring and check for any damage or improper connection of other harnesses from performing the repairs.

So I checked the wires as far back as they run and they both have continuity. I couldn't get a reading as far as resistance. I ordered another connector for the cts but the wires aren't really that long so I'm hoping the wires after splicing on the new connector fixes my problem. Can you suggest what other tests using my multimeter that I can use to diagnose my problem?
