Convertible Top will not close

(2003 Saab 9-3)
in Naples, FL on March 25, 2011
Recently experienced that my 2003 93 Convertible top would not close due to a hydraulic leak/reputered hose(s). I found out from the dealer there are 10 hoses at $250 a hose plus labor. It is hard to believe all 10 hoses are bad. Any help on a fix for this and can you buy the hoses on line, it appears to be a dealer item Saab owner in Naples, FL

It may be possible to buy hoses online, but there are hose specialty shops that would make you new hoses using the original fittings, lots cheaper that way. It's possible that all the hoses are defective but it's hard to believe, for me anyway. You may want to find an independent SAAB specialist for a second opinion. Sounds to me that the dealer technician is using the 'shotgun' approach, partly to make more money, and partly to avoid problems due to hose failure later or find that he needs another hose or two once he gets into it. He probably has to guarantee his work and parts for a year so he doesn't want to have any hose failures within that time period.

Call a few Napa stores in your area www.napaonline.com as my store had a complete hydraulic hose assortment and we custom made hoses for many vehicles
