Compressor clutch will not release while ac is on, it does not cycle off

(1999 Cadillac Escalade)
the clutch is engaged when ac is on, it is not froze or stuck if ac is not on, blows cold air, it will not cycle. what are the most likely problems.

there may be no problem. you need to have the pressures analyzed. if the air is cold and the pressures are good, then do not look for problems.

When the system has been running for more than a few hrs on long road trips it blows hot air. I turn it off for 30 min. or so then all is good again but for shorter time periods. I will have pressure checked and also change both pressure switches.
I do appreciate your time.
