Clunking

(1999 Ford F-150)
I have a clunking in the drive, and when i take off there is a roar that gets louder the faster i go, not sure what to look for
in Bismarck, ND on September 27, 2010

You should look at lubing the slip joint in the driveshaft, possibly causing the clunkiing...when you check the u joints as ZeeTech recommended. As far as the roar, could be the fan clutch being engaged causing the fan to make the roar. May or may not be normal.

First I'd check the U-joints on the drive shaft, make sure they are not loose.
