My cigarette lighter blew a fuse (I Think?). I have looked at the fuses I can find and they all look ok. Can you tell me what else to check to get the lighter working. I don't smoke but need it to keep cell and other gadget's batteries charged. Thanks.

This has become a real common problem now that we are all charging our phones and other mobile devices through the lighter sockets. Many of the inexpensive chargers are blowing fuses. Sometimes the best way to test the fuses is with a test light, you can touch the light probe to the back of the fuse, on the inlet and outlet sides, so you can see if the fuse is getting power, and if the fuse is blown.
Check the 15 Amp fuse #13 it should have 12v with the key on. It is the green/red wire at the cigarette lighter that should have power if the fuse is good.
HI again, Thanks for your replies. I have checked all the fuses in the box inside the hood. They visually all look good; none broken. Is Are there other places where there are fuses? The owners manual is no help. Also, can you tell me where fuse #13 is? The fuses I have checked do not have numbers (except for voltage) on them. This is for a 2000 Pathfinder. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks again, Ernie P.
Ernie, there are fuses and relays in a fuse box in the engine compartment but the fuse box you are looking for is best viewed with the driver's door open kneeling and looking in the area below the steering wheel and above the brake pedal. Ensure you replace the fuse with the same amperage. Your truck should have spare fuses in the fuse box either under the dash or the fuse box in the engine compartment.
Thanks so much to "autotechpat"; you where right on with your information. I missed the fuses on the first look because they were behind a cover for a small storage box. You have to remove the cover completely to get at the fuses. You have saved me a trip to an auto shop and I'm sure you have saved me some cash. Thanks again and thanks to all who have responded to my question. Ernie P
10.4 this helped me alot to I have looked for two hours checking every fuse I could find.
the fuse for the cigarette lighter for 2006 honda accord blown, where can i find the fuse to replace??
I too have 2 non-working cigarette lighters in my 2000 Pathfinder (1 lighter and 1 power port actually). And the minute they went dead I of course first looked at the under dash fuse box. No fuses are burned out or broken. So plan B?
I've just replaced the whole cigarette lighter unit in my '96 Honda Civic only to find I needn't have done that ! On testing the old one beforehand I found the fuse was ok but I couldn't get a the circuit tester to light up and so thought I it had burnt out. Once I had bought the new unit and stripped out the old one I discovered it was the connector housing for the +tive bullet-plug that was faulty - in working order it's in two parts soldered together but mine, for whatever reason had become unsoldered, fallen apart and therefore lost connection. I could have simply replaced the connector and saved myself the expense of a whole new assembly (including push-in ciggy lighter) - local Honda Dealer did not advise me to check the connector but maybe they wouldn't have know that such a thing could happen anyway !
