On April 19, 2010, Chrysler recalled 308,950 Chrysler Town & Country. Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2005-2006 dodge caravan, grand caravan and chrysler town & country vehicles originally sold in or currently registered in the states of connecticut, delaware, iowa, illinois, indiana, kansas, kentucky, massachusetts, maine, maryland, michigan, minnesota, missouri, nebraska, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, north dakota, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, south dakota, tennessee, utah, vermont, virginia, west virginia, wisconsin, alaska and the district of columbia. the front crash sensors may crack under certain environmental conditions and allow water to enter into the sensor. this can cause the sensor to become inoperative and illuminate the airbag warning light. these sensors were added to enhance the performance of the airbag system in certain frontal crashes.

The airbag warning light may illuminate due to water intrusion into a front crash sensor. The airbag system may not deploy as designed when the airbag warning light is on, increasing the risk of personal injury in the event of a crash.

Some Chrysler and Dodge minivans were not equipped with the optional blind spot detection system. Still, these vehicles have the wiring connectors for some of the components of that system present. Chrysler has found that these connectors may become corroded and short circuit.

In areas where greater amounts of road salt is used, the up-front airbag sensors may crack due to corrosion, allowing water to enter the sensor, causing failure. In the event of certain types of front end crashes, airbag performance would be reduced with these sensors not functioning.
