Changing Water pump and the gear that hooks into timing chain won't come out

Do I have to something to release tension on chain will it screw up if it comes out

Do you have the timing cover and the exhaust manifold off?

No didn't take timing cover off yet managed to get last nut off of pump under exhaust and left it on too

Yes. You need to pull the timing chain cover and remove the tensioner to remove the water pump. Don't try and work it out otherwise. If you are in doubt of any of it, email me your email address and I will send you the repair instructions from the service manual. My email is chevyase@aol.com
